The reform implemented by the CNSS in May 2025 does not concern the old-age pension alone. Where a deceased insured person accumulated at least 1,320 days of insurance, their dependants may claim a survivors' pension under the conditions of the scheme.
Two distinct situations
Between 1,320 and 3,239 days, entitlement to a pension is now open under the new arrangement. Where the insured person does not reach 1,320 days, they — or their dependants in the event of death — may claim a refund of the employee and employer contributions in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions.
A refund is not a pension: it is a payment linked to the contributions accumulated, and it does not carry the same periodic entitlements or the same effects in terms of social cover.
Procedures
The CNSS makes the corresponding formalities available on TAAWYDATI and at its branches. Dependants must gather civil status and death records, the documents establishing their status, and the insured person's registration references.
Before choosing which claim to make, the career statement should be checked. Omitted periods may bring the total above the 1,320-day threshold and open up a different entitlement. Heirs and beneficiaries must also distinguish between the survivors' pension, the death grant and the refund of contributions, each of which has its own conditions and forms.
