Since 1 January 2026, the monthly cap on living costs transferable in respect of studies abroad has been raised from MAD 12,000 to MAD 15,000. Tuition fees and rent continue to be dealt with up to the amounts evidenced by the institution's documents or by the lease.
Domiciliation of the file
The applicant must domicile the "studies abroad" file with a Moroccan bank, which alone is responsible for executing the payments. At the start of each academic cycle or period, the bank asks for a certificate of enrolment or pre-enrolment. In the case of pre-enrolment, the final certificate must be produced within the time limit set by the Instruction.
Students taking part in an exchange programme may benefit from the arrangements relating to living costs and accommodation, provided they produce the documents of the Moroccan and foreign institutions specifying the admission and the duration of the exchange.
In practice
The MAD 15,000 cap concerns living costs; it is not to be confused with tuition fees or with evidenced rent. Transfers must correspond to the period covered and to the intended beneficiary.
The student may open an account abroad to manage this expenditure. At the end of the stay, the account must be closed and the balance repatriated to Morocco and sold on the foreign exchange market within sixty days of the return.
