On 15 June 2026, the Office des Changes rolled out the SARF platform, dedicated to the digital, instant and secure management of foreign currency exchange operations. The solution is used by exchange offices following a training programme organised across the regions of the Kingdom.
Main functions
SARF covers currency purchase and sale transactions with customers and the issuance of the corresponding slips. It creates a more structured data chain between the operator, the transaction and the documents given to the client.
The platform also incorporates a support mechanism for vigilance and compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing requirements. The Office has set up a support unit and guides for the start-up phase.
Consequences for users
For an individual or a Moroccan living abroad, the nature of currency entitlements does not change on account of SARF alone: caps and supporting documents remain those of the 2026 IGOC. The recording of transactions and the issuance of slips should, however, become more consistent and more traceable.
It is advisable to check the information shown on the slip before leaving the counter — identity, currency, amount, rate and nature of the transaction — and to keep the document. Such supporting documents may be useful for a later currency repurchase, as proof of funding, or to track a personal allowance.
